Why did iMessage photos disappear?

The photos in the text messages between me and my girlfriend have disappeared. I didn’t delete them or delete any of mine and my girlfriend’s messages and just yesterday all the photos between us were there and now they’re gone. I know I have enough ICloud storage because I had bought more but I want to know why the photos are gone.

How to delete imessage photos after deleting an iMessage, if i go to text that person again, and click on info-->photos all the photos i have previously sent in the deleted message show up again in photo box. i have tried to select the photos in the photo info section and delete them, but they do not delete. they delete, i come out of contact and go back in and they reappear.

Photos in my IMessages not all showing up I had my phone repaired and did a backup prior too and now the pictures in my messages are not all there! I’ve reset the message in iCloud numerous times but it has not fixed the issue. In one of my messages it goes all the way back to 2016.
