Why doesn’t calendar app sync with maps app?

Whenever I add a new event and try to add a location, it doesn’t sync with the maps app. I add the address to the calendar location, but it won’t show up as a suggestion or anything. How do I fix this?

Mapping from Appointments in CarPlay Calendar is useless I rely on Apple Calendar, Maps and CarPlay in my day to day work. Perplexingly, when I pull up a Calendar appointment in CarPlay - even one that HAS A FULLY FORMED ADDRESS LOCATION - most times, CarPlay will NOT allow me to map that location. I can see it, right there in front of me: CarPlay is displaying the address on the screen, but it won't let me tap it to map a route! This forces me to grab my phone and fiddle with it while driving, which is dangerous. Honestly, this is such an obvious use case, I'm confused by the lack of attention to it. I prefer to avoid the Google ecosystem and stick with Apple's native apps, but this is an example of Apple penalizing people like me, who are constantly navigating to different, new addresses to as part of our work lives.

Using Google maps with Apple calendar and contacts, etc. When I have an address for a job in my calendar, it opened directions up with Apple Maps… I’m used to using Google maps… I guess I’ve been just adding the address to Google maps directly in the past.
