iCloud Mail Default Email is Old Email

So I changed my iCloud email address, completely removing the old @icloud.com email. Though when I go to Apple mail settings it still shows the old email under default. This is an issue as now I can’t send emails due to them attempting to send from the now inactive email. The only account displayed under the account section is my new email, with no option to set it as default.

Thank you for the screenshot.

Changing the iCloud eMail Address:

You can't. What you are looking to perform is not an option. Apple Accounts can only have one iCloud eMail address. Your only workaround from here is to create an alias.

Also I fixed it by using a different device and sending an email to my new email, then if you reply to that email you just sent to your new email, it will update. You could also use any website or password reset message and reply to that too. If that doesn’t work then log out and back into iCloud, and if that doesn’t work then reset your device, and if that doesn’t work then contact Apple.

I have already used that to change my iCloud adress. When you use it, it will delete the current one and allow you to enter a new iCloud email adress which is then updated to take over the spot of the old one. It’s only available on iPhone and iPad though, you can’t do it on the website or using a Mac.

From your prior reply, it seems you’ve solved this, is that correct? If not, the I recommend giving Apple a direct call, requesting Account Assistance.

For Account Assistance, Contact Apple Store Support:

You need to contact Apple Support Directly. This is a User-to-User forum. We are all volunteers. So, as you may suspect, no one here has access to that information — and that is a good thing, BTW. That’s why for Financial Assistance, you need to contact Apple Support. They’ll see what’s going on and will run you through the fix. . IMPORTANT: If needed, perform a screensharing session with the Apple Rep, so they can see this firsthand from YOUR perspective.

iCloud Mail Default Email is Old Email: I edited my current iCloud email using this

Thank you for the screenshot.

Changing the Primary eMail Address:

That is telling you that “you can choose a different address as your primary email.” So, as an example, you’d use gmail

or AOL or Outlook. Find out more here: Change your Apple Account Primary eMail Address - Apple Support

Yes,I have solved the issue and wrote instructions on how to fix it if somebody else has this issue. I replied to you thought to correct your statement on the “Change Adress” button. The function of the button will edit the stuff before @icloud.com, and when you do this the old email is permanently deleted. This feature is only available for use for the one iCloud email you can associate with your Apple Account. Here is the Apple article: Change your Apple Account primary email address - Apple Support
