I have two air tags that worked before and now my iPhone can't find them even if I hold one of them near by. I changed their batteries as per instructions and when I press it there is no sound. What seems to be the problem and how to fix it? What should I do next?

Check if the batteries have got the bitrex coating to stop kids eating them. If you've chucked the packed just lick one, you'll know. If they have then you have to clean off the bitrex because the Airtag battery connection is where the bitrex is. IPA or just the rough side of scrunge works. Google for more info.

Typically when you insert a replacement battery and press down, the AirTag should emit a beep. If it does not, then as Zuraczurx has mentioned, check to see if the replacement does not have a bitterant coating ... or that the replacement is already depleted.
