This should answer your question about fast charging your MacBook Air:
It's important to understand that the Mac's "charger" is actually built into the Mac itself, and that this charger controls the amount of charge the Mac's battery can take at any given time. Regardless of what power adapter wattage you use, that charger will only take what is necessary to run the laptop and charge the battery.
Using a larger wattage charger has no effect on battery wear, but it won't necessarily charge your laptop any faster.
Again, the laptop's "charger" is built into the Mac itself. It regulates how much charge it will take from the external power adapter ... regardless if that adapter is as large as a 140W model.

Increasing Update Install Speeds:
A. Faster Router:
The speed that the router provided is what you'd get ultimate speed for a Data Transfer Rate. So, I would look up what super of Internet connectivity your are paying your ISP for. Google the model of your router, and make sure you are getting speed of what you are paying fore.
B. Don't Use Public LANs:
A P LAN (Public Local Area Network) would be slow, if it is intended for Guest usage. You might bet kicked off, if consuming too much data. Campgrounds have a eruption for this.
C. Use Ethernet:
If an option, use Ethernet, as it would get fast speed, and a more reliable connection (because it is hardwired directly into your router/modem. For USB-C only Macs you'r need this adapter: Belkin USB-C to 2.5Gb Ethernet Adapter - Apple
