Apple TV 3rd generation stuck in perpetual wifi password loop

Selected my new Wi-Fi name in Network setup as I have a new ISP. It immediately displays "The Wi-Fi password you entered is not correct Try again. (-100)". However, Apple TV never prompted me to enter the password after selecting the new Wi-Fi Name from the list it just displayed this previous message. It just keeps doing it no matter how many times I select the new Wi-Fi name. Anyone know how I get it to provide a screen where I can actually enter the password for this new Wi-Fi network? I know Apple TV automatically recognizes new Wi-Fi names available but what's the deal with it not providing a way to enter its password?

  1. Try the steps as mentioned in: If your Apple TV can't connect to Wi-Fi - Apple Support
  2. Try the ‘Other…’ option instead of selecting a listed discovered network. Especially if the password has been changed.
  3. For Apple TV (4th generation or earlier), verify that the router or access point isn’t set to use WPA3, as only device models from ~2018 or later support that. Instead use ‘WPA2/WPA3 Transitional’. Some users report that they had to set ‘WPA2’-only first.
