Why there is so many update?

I started using iPhone since iPhone 6. I don't change a lot the phone as it's used for business purpose only. My second iPhone is iPhone 8Plus. And now I am using iPhone 14 Pro. I notice one thing since start using iPhone 14 Pro, I got iOS security update frequently. And due to the company policy, I must upgrade the iOS. Otherwise I can't use the phone to access the company service and the infrastructure.

I don't have such issue when using iPhone 6 and iPhone 8 Plus. But in last year, I got a security update mail 4 times at least. Honestly I am not a heavy phone user. I really don't understand why this happens.

Will you have any LTSC version? So that I can avoid such upgrade?

Updates are what keep your iPhone running smoothly and make it the revolutionary product it is today. Updates provide the latest features, security patches, bug fixes, and performance enhancements.

You may also consider that your old iPhone 6 and 8 Plus stopped receiving updates a while ago, and that your new iPhone 14 Pro is still supported with updates, and thus you will receive them frequently on it.

It also isn’t much of a burden at all to update your iPhone, and if u have Automatic Updates turned on your iPhone, it will update on it’s own when your iPhone is charging and on Wi-Fi, usually when not in use.

That is because Apple is no longer supporting updates for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 8 Plus.

But, you might be interested to learn that the iPhone 6 had a total of 78 iOS updates from the time that it was introduced to the time that updates were discontinued. There has not been an update for the iPhone 6 since January of 2023, so of course you have not seen a new update in over 2 years. You can't compare that to a current iOS version, which might have important security updates every other month or even more often.

If you don't want to keep your iPhone 14 Pro up to date security wise, no one is forcing you to update.

If you are interested, we'll check on how many updates have been available for the iPhone 8 Plus, but I imagine that the numbers are similar to the iPhone 6. Let us know if you would like that information.
