Battery draining and overheating on iPhone after iOS 18.3.2 update

I am experiencing major issues after updating to iOS 18.3.2:

  • The battery is draining rapidly, and the device is consistently overheating.
  • The microphone and speakers are not functioning during calls.
  • Despite no background processes running, the battery dropped from 80% to 10% within 40 minutes.

I visited the Apple Support/Service Center for a full diagnostic, and they confirmed that the device is functioning properly, with 92% battery health and no detected issues.

If anyone else is facing similar issues or has a possible resolution, I would appreciate your insights. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You just updated the iOS a whole point, not an incremental dot increase. Do a forced restart, update all your apps and in three or four days post back and we can dive into what is affecting battery usage.

Right now there is a lot of background activity taking place. Make sure you are plugging in your iPhone to a charge overnight and the device is connected to WiFi.

Actually if you look in the Apple App Store Genshin Impact update updated again just 3 days ago and with no optimization. Many times developers release updated apps, then wait several months to receive user feedback to decide what to fix and/or optimize.

You may have to reduce image quality, frame rate etc. You can also try quitting all apps in background, restarting your device and then loading the game. Reducing screen brightness slightly reduces heat, allowing the processors and GPU’s to maintain maximum performance before throttling (slowing down) to reduce heat and prevent damage to key components.

So, let’s look at your app usage and what apps are consuming. Here’s my usage for the lat 24 hours after updating to iOS 18.4 I’m sharing mine, then it’s your turn. Do not include the graphs. They are useless for identifying the issues. We need to see app issues and battery consumption.

Battery Usage by App for last 24 hours.

Activity by App for last 24 hours

Now let’s see yours.

Facing the same issue, the battery drains from 40% to 4% in less than 15 mins. Battery health is 76% and was working flawlessly before the update.

Another issue experienced is touch delays with multiple unregistered touches in a variety of applications ranging from Amozon to finance apps.

Whenever you tap on the screen, the tap is unregistered, but at the same point in another app, and it does not show any trend.

It’s the updates. Mine started with the 18.3.2 and now it’s a little worse with the 18.4. I don’t care what they say, my phone has 100% battery and I have done all the little fixes, including reset. I could go 10-12 PLUS using my phone the exact same way I am now while getting only 4-6 hours before having to recharge.

1) I was told background refresh

2)brightness

3)widgets

4) update is working behind scenes and need to do a forced reset

5) then someone wanted me to send my battery usage. NO! I know when my phone messed up! It’s the update and Apple needs to get their stuff together and stop sending these updates with bugs, etc., but instead check them before we, the consumer update! They need to be honest and just fix it! I bought my phone around November 2024! We should not have to work around these updates to get what we paid for!

6) Oh! It was mentioned should update to 18.4 and that was the start. I wish I had not! My phone feels like fire. I literally was cleaning up my photos and watched my battery drain 15%!
