Why not? What happens when you try?

Are you using a case? If so, try without the case.

Are you certain the cable is a USB-C cable? People tend to confuse USB-C with Lightning.

Have you checked the port for any debris?

You can try using a plastic or wooden toothpick or other non-conductive implement to clean the port of any foreign object that may be blocking it.

Make sure you are using a USB-C charging cable, either the one that came with your iPhone or an Apple-certified one. Also use a wooden or plastic toothpick, but nothing metal, with a flashlight and get any debris and lint out of your charging port.

Then you may want to take it into an Apple Store to have it looked at.
