Apple SuperDrive (CD player) will not load a disk.

My Apple SuperDrive (CD player) will not load a CD.

It is attached directly to the USB port on my 2023 Mac mini Pro2.

It does show up lightly grayed out in the Eject button in the notification/status bar.

It does not show up as a connected device in Finder.

It does not show up as an Icon on the desktop

Why won't it load a CD? I can only push the CD in half way, then the CD meets spring resistance and will not load.
