Listening to phone calls through aux cable in car

I want to be able to listen to my phone calls through my car speakers using my auxiliary cord. I never had a problem doing this until I upgraded to iPhone 16E.

I can still listen to music through my car speakers just not incoming phone calls.

Is there a setting I can change to fix this?

iPhone 16e, iOS 18

While an aux cable can play audio from your phone through your car's speakers, it doesn't typically route phone calls directly through the car's speakers; you'll still hear the call on your phone.

Here's a breakdown of how it works and some alternatives:

  • How it works:
  • An aux cable connects your phone's audio output (usually the headphone jack) to the car stereo's auxiliary input, allowing you to play music or other audio.
  • Phone calls:
  • When you make or receive a call, the audio signal is still routed through your phone's speaker and microphone, not the car speakers.
  • Alternatives for car calls:
    • Bluetooth: If your car has Bluetooth, you can connect your phone wirelessly and use the car's speakers for calls.
    • Hands-free kits: Some cars have built-in hands-free kits that allow you to connect your phone and route calls through the car speakers.
    • USB cable: You can also connect your phone using a USB cable, which may allow for more functionality, such as charging and potentially routing calls.
