Did Apple change the software on my 2023 Trackpad?

The "click to select" button on mine was on the bottom left and the "Menu " button was on the right. I took it into the Genius Bar and the tech said that Apple changed the software to have these two buttons reversed now and it's really hampering my ability to use it. Is his diagnosis correct? If so, is this a warranty concern?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.7

Most likely, yes.

If you mean, can you get it "fixed" by Apple for free? If so, the Apple warranty only covers manufacturing defects, not firmware updates that may change how the device works.

Since this is hampering your ability to use your trackpad, you can let Apple know here: Product Feedback - Apple
