If you're experiencing pairing issues with your Square Reader and iPhone, try these troubleshooting steps: force quit the Square app, forget the reader in Bluetooth settings, and then re-pair the devices within the Square app.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of troubleshooting steps:

  • Force Quit the Square App:
  • Close the Square app completely by swiping up from the bottom of the screen and closing the app.
  • Forget the Reader in Bluetooth Settings:
    • Go to your iPhone's Settings > Bluetooth.
    • Find your Square Reader in the list of devices and tap the "i" icon next to it.
    • Tap "Forget This Device".
  • Re-pair the Devices:
    • Open the Square app and navigate to Settings > Square Readers.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to re-pair your Square Reader with your iPhone.
  • Other Troubleshooting Tips:
    • Update the Square App: Ensure you have the latest version of the Square app installed.
    • Turn Bluetooth On and Off: Try turning Bluetooth off and on again on your iPhone.
    • Ensure Reader is Within Range: Make sure your Square Reader is within 3 meters (10 feet) of your iPhone.
    • Check Reader Battery: A low battery on your Square Reader might cause connection issues.
    • Check for Developer Options/Mode: If using Tap to Pay on Android, ensure Developer options/mode is turned off.
    • Restart Your Device: Restarting your iPhone can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.
    • Check Square Stand Cables: If using a Square Stand, ensure cables are plugged in securely and the power adapter is plugged into a grounded outlet.
