How do I locate a lost Apple Watch without Find My?

A couple of hours ago, I lost my apple watch in public. When I noticed it was missing, the first thing I did was check Find My. It wasn't even listed, I thought this feature is automatically enabled for my watch if it is for my phone (airpods were listed chilling at home), not even a ping for last location.

I checked the place I remember taking it off, but to no avail. Anything I can do? Will contacting apple support yield anything? Any secret feature that can locate it?
