2025 delete "From My Mac" Photos

I no longer have my Mac laptop. I have several thousand pictures on my phone that show up as "From My Mac". They are not in my iCloud photos. I tried to select all and duplicate then import - they are now on my new laptop but still visible on my iphone in photos. Is there a way to remove them so they cannot be viewed on my phone any longer? Not seeing where they are stored - if I get a new phone and it is setup via a backup will these just permanently be on my phone forever?

Any help would be super appreciated.

Thank you!

Those photos shown as "From My Mac" are stored in a special area that can only be managed by an external computer ("synced" by Finder on modern Macs, iTunes on older Macs, or similar software on Windows PCs). The collection can be amended by repeating the "sync" with a different selection of photos (including none). The new "sync" does not have to be done with the same external computer, but the new selection will replace the entire previous collection.

Is your new laptop a Mac? You can repeat the "sync" using Finder, selecting a source folder containing zero photos if you want to remove all "From My Mac" photos and videos.

If your new laptop is a Windows PC, let us know what model and system version. Somebody with recent Windows experience may have more up to date knowledge on what the software is called on that system.
