Hi,
Which iPhone do you have? However, Here’s what you can try:
1. Force Restart the iPhone
- Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.
- Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.
- Then, press and hold the Side (Power) button until you see the Apple logo.
- Press and hold both the Volume Down and Side (Power) buttons at the same time.
- Keep holding them until you see the Apple logo.
- For iPhone 6s and earlier:
- Press and hold both the Home and Power buttons at the same time.
- Keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
2. Update or Restore via iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina and later)
- For Windows or macOS Mojave and earlier:
- Open iTunes on your computer and connect your iPhone.
- If iTunes detects your iPhone in recovery mode, it should prompt you with options to either Restore or Update your iPhone.
- Choose "Update" to try to reinstall iOS without losing your data. If that doesn’t work, you might need to choose Restore, which will erase all data on your iPhone.
- For macOS Catalina and later:
- Open Finder and locate your iPhone under the Locations section.
- Select your iPhone, and you should see the option to either Update or Restore.
- Try Update first. If that doesn’t help, go ahead and select Restore to erase and reinstall iOS.
3. Use Recovery Mode with Third-Party Software (if iTunes/Finder doesn’t work)
If iTunes or Finder doesn’t solve the issue, third-party tools like Tenorshare ReiBoot, Dr.Fone, or iMyFone Fixppo can help get your device out of recovery mode. These tools allow you to fix system issues without data loss, or at least guide you in repairing your iPhone.
4. DFU Mode (Device Firmware Update Mode)
If none of the above methods work, you may need to put your iPhone into DFU mode. This mode is deeper than recovery mode and can help fix more serious issues.
- Quickly press and release the Volume Up button.
- Quickly press and release the Volume Down button.
- Press and hold the Side (Power) button until the screen goes black.
- While holding the Side button, press and hold the Volume Down button for about 5 seconds.
- Release the Side button, but keep holding the Volume Down button until your iPhone shows up in iTunes or Finder. You’ll see a message saying the device is in recovery mode.
- Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds.
- Release the Power button but keep holding the Volume Down button until your iPhone shows up in iTunes or Finder.
- For iPhone 6s and earlier:
- Press and hold the Home and Power buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds.
- Release the Power button but continue holding the Home button until your iPhone appears in iTunes or Finder.
Once in DFU mode, iTunes or Finder should allow you to restore your iPhone.
5. Contact Apple Support or Visit an Apple Store
If none of the above steps work, it could be a hardware issue, or the update might have failed in a way that requires professional repair. In that case, it’s best to contact Apple Support or make an appointment at your nearest Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider.
