You can take the phone to your Apple Store and complete the trade there. You do not have to wait for the trade in kit. You'll get your trade on the spot. You will still receive the trade in kit and after two weeks you will receive an email telling you they didn't receive your trade. Just ignore it because you'll already have traded and gotten the trade value in store. I do this EVERY year when I get a new iPhone.

Should you choose to do so, you can complete the trade-in at a physical Apple Store - many choosing this option by preference as the device can be checked, the trade-in value finalised and the process completed while in-store - removing any uncertainty as to the final assessed value.
