See if you need to clear lots of space. System resources may be using up too much services, making it overheat. Internal storage cannot be upgraded. It is what it is. Yes, this can cause damage. So, let it cool for a bit. If you see any lumps, then that indicates your battery is expanding and should get this serviced. So, do you see any lumps on the iPhone? If so, it is corroding, and that makes this a health hazard. So, if corrosion is occurring, you should get this serviced, ASAP.
