Cannot access a specific website on my macbook pro but works on all other devices
I have a personal domain I maintain and sometime in the past month discovered I can no longer load the site on my macbook on my home wifi. If I use any other device on the same wifi network, I can access the site. If I tether my mackbook to my phone with my phone connected to the local wifi network, I can see the website. But I cannot see the site with any browser on my macbook using my local wifi network. I did not make any changes to the website and, as far as I know, no changes were made to my local network.
Here’s the error messages I receive on each browser I’ve tried:
- Chrome
This site can’t be reached
[the site] refused to connect.
Try:
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
- Firefox
Unable to connect
Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at [the site].
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web.
- Safari
Safari Can’t Connect to the Server
Safari can’t open the page “[the site]” because Safari can’t connect to the server “[the site]”.
- DuckDuckGo
DuckDuckGo can’t load this page.
Could not connect to the server.
Here’s my specs:
MacBook Pro
- 13-inch, 2017 macbook pro
- Ventura 13.7.5
Modem
- Arris
- SURFboard
- SB6183
Bridge
- Netgear GS108
Wifi router
- Google Nest WiFi Router
- Model: H2D
- Ver: 14150.883.17
Here’s a list of everything I have tried:
- Accessing the site with http and https
- Using different browsers Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and DuckDuckGo. Tried privacy/incognito modes where available
- Cleared all cache and history for every browser
- Tried accessing while on vpn (and off vpn)
- Restarted my laptop
- Ran every possible update
- Restarted my modem, bridge, and wifi router
- Contacted my domain and webhosting agency. Since the site works for everyone else, everywhere else, and on my other devices, they do not feel it has anything to do with the hosting
- Turned off my OS-level firewall
- Terminal command to flush DNS “sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder”
- Change DNS server addresses at the OS-level
- Removed bypass proxy addresses
- Created an alternate network location via OS settings
What else can I try?
Thanks.
