Small hole appeared on MacBook Pro screen – anyone else?

Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out here because I’ve encountered an issue with my new MacBook Pro M4 (purchased 6 months ago). A small hole—almost like a tiny puncture—suddenly appeared on the screen. There’s been absolutely no impact, no accident, and I’m very careful with my device, which is always stored in a dedicated protective sleeve.

I contacted Apple to request a warranty repair, but they refused, stating it was not covered since they consider it to be caused by external damage. I strongly disagree, as the screen was never subjected to any impact.

I’m posting here to find out if any other users have experienced something similar. Is this an isolated defect, or something more common?

I can't take a photo as my Macbook Pro is still with Apple but the defect is similar to these posts :

The clearance between the screen and the keyboard is almost nothing. It sounds likely that something got trapped between the keys and the screen when you closed it.

I make a point of dusting off my keyboard with a soft brush before closing.

Thank you for your response.

I understand your point of view, and indeed, the clearance between the screen and keyboard is very narrow. That said, I’m extremely careful with my MacBook Pro and never leave anything on the keyboard.

If a tiny speck of dust or particle could really cause such damage, it does raise some questions about the screen's fragility. This computer is supposed to be built for professional use… That could raise a durability concern in the long run.

I’m just trying to understand, but I’m genuinely surprised that such a defect could appear under these conditions.
