Have an iphone XR, not enough storage to do an ios update, phone saying sim card failure, have restarted phone and not fixed problem, any suggestions?

Try updating through your computer. It should not stop working because you have an old iOS version. You need to contact your carrier for help with the SIM card.
Thanks, i have saw these links prior to posting, the ios is out of date but no room for update. I am unsure if the phone has stopped working for that reason or just a faulty sim?
