How to resolve 'Sorry, something is wrong' and 'That number is in use' errors when swapping iPhones with Xfinity carrier?

I bought 2 16e iPhones at the Apple store. Transferred data

on both phones. Opened Xfinity’s (our carrier) mobile app on the new phones and

tried to swap the new phones for the old ones. One time it eventuality read, “Sorry,

something is wrong”. Another try, selecting “I want to keep my old number”,

hitting “Continue” brought the response, “That number is in use”. Took phones

to Apple store and they said it was Xfinity’s problem. I went to Xfinity and

they said the phones were probably locked. Under “Carrier Lock“ in Settings,

both phones read, No SIM restrictions. What is the answer, please?

This is an Xfinity issue. Carriers are famous at the blame game. Contact Xfinity CS and elevate this. They need to provision your account for the new phones. Keep in mind that Xfinity is a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) who relies on Verizon for their towers. Most lower cost MVNO providers often lack in their technical support. You pay less, you often get less. But they should be able to resolve this. If they can't, then take your business to a better carrier.
