How can I keep thumbnail size large in Photos app on my iPad?

Since iPadOS 18, my thumbnails of photos are small. I can make them larger if I scroll down and only show the thumbnails. However, if I close the app, the thumbnails return to the small size when I reopen it. Am I able to keep the thumbnails at the larger size that works for me? I often take screenshots of work applications for training and need to go back and forth between the two apps. Having the larger thumbnails would be a big asset for me. Thank you.

I keep my iPad with 5 across, which seems pretty reasonable for me. In Library view ("Library" in the upper left corner,) I use the pinch gesture

to get the size I want. When I close Photos and re-open, it stays the same.

Three across is also nice. In fact, just to be sure, I did a forced re-start of the iPad, and Photos remained at three across after the re-boot. You can also use the sort menu>View Options to zoom in or zoom out.

You didn't say what iPadOS you're using. I'm at 18.4.

Do you do something different?
