How can I fix Siri not hearing me on my Mac?

I am fairly new to Mac and have just purchased a MacBook Air, loving it!!!

But after following all the instructions SIRI will not hear me. I have read the solutions offered to other users with the same problem but still no joy.

What is the answer? give up with SIRI or keep trying?

(don't use it much anyway)

Sounds robotic and says "Siri voice will take effect when downloaded" but not possible. Have to click on Siri icon numerous times to even get a response as it doesn't always work. Siri not working on Sonoma with Mac Studio & Studio Display - noise when icon/button pressed All settings are correct and have tried toggling Siri. WiFi and ethernet are connected. When I either click the Siri Menu Bar icon or press and hold the Mic/F5 button I just get an odd sound but no response from Siri. It does not display any text (I tried turning the option on to display Siri's words). When toggling Siri OFF and then ON, and then turning the 'Listen For' options on it goes through the learning exercise. Not sure why but it will repeat this if I toggle the 'Listen For' off and then back on - surely it does not need to re-learn. Please don't direct me to any Apple Support documents - I've been through them all. And yes, the microphone works fine in e.g. Zoom. What else could be wrong?

Why is Siri not working at all now on my Mac Laptop? Up until a few days ago it was no problem at all to ask Siri a question and get an answer....now NO response!

It would be helpful if you told us what solutions you've already tried.

Are you able to use the microphone to create a voice memo? Or make a FaceTime or Zoom call?

How are you activating Siri?

Does your microphone work? If it works, it is a "siri" problem.

Try resetting your Mac or reinstall macOS.
