How do I transfer music from an old iPod to a new iPhone using iTunes?

I have an old Ipod touch. The battery is going. I purchased an old Iphone. I want to transfer my music from my old Ipod to my Iphone. I plug in my Ipod, music shows up in Itunes, but I cannot see the music files in Windows Explorer. Help!

You cannot. iTunes is one way sync. Computer to device. You cannot extract the music library form an iPod using iTunes.

You will need a third party App if it's an iPod touch, older Nano, Mini or Shuffle. If it's an iPod classic or Nano (6th or 7th generation), you can set it to Disk mode and extract the files that way, and then recreate your iTunes Library.
