How do I fix missing message notifications on my device?
I used to get notifications of text messages in the form of drop down bar at top of page. I no longer get these notifications. Anyone know why?

Try checking your notification settings:
Change notification settings on iPhone - Apple Support (CA)
If this is only happening for a particular contact of yours, check their contact card to see if you may have inadvertently muted notifications from them.
The notification type you are referring are "banners"
