iPhone 12 Pro Max replacement screen does not fit.

My son's iPhone 12 Pro Max screen broke we ordered a new one, but on arrival, it doesn't fit the one we took off is a lot thinner and totally flat with the one that's come has like little things that need to slotting round the edges, on looking it says his model number is mgd73b/a I've never seen this before and can't seem to find anything about it online. Does anybody have any help or know where I can get a screen that will fit? Thanks

The model number is for an iPhone 12 Pro Max. But no one here can possibly recommend a 3rd party source for a screen replacement. It is never recommended to buy an aftermarket screen nor try to replace the screen yourself.

Apple does offer a self-service option and you can use the link Katana-San provided if you want to try that. Through Apple it will cost $329 to buy the kit to replace the screen with an Authentic Screen.

Which begs the question why you didn't just schedule a screen replacement at your closest Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider (like BestBuy in the US) and it would have been replaced while you waited for the same $329 cost.

I wish you luck finding the right screen for the phone. But we can't help you do that.

It sounds like the phone is the AT&T Graphite model which has a screen with thin edges and no clips on the sides. I don't know where to get that particular screen replacement but there's got to be one out there somewhere- maybe ebay or someone selling that model for parts, rather than somewhere like amazon. In the past that screen was readily available from 3rd party sellers, but now it seems like they're mostly selling the one with thicker sides and clips for models A2342, A2410, etc.

I believe this model was the version used for the AT&T Graphite iphone 12 pro max and the screen used in it is different (flat edges, no clips) than the one used in all the other iphone 12 pro max models. This screen replacement can be found (I don't know where, offhand) but it's probably going to take more searching than finding a regular iphone 12 pro max screen.

You should never have tried to remove the screen on your son's phone and whatever you ordered is not an Authentic Apple screen. Now that you have removed the screen on his phone, you have tampered with the phone, meaning Apple will NOT help you. We certainly can't help you as doing what you did was just not a wise move. Sorry.

At this point, you'll need to take the phone to some iFixit type business near you (most malls have one) and hope they can replace the screen on the phone. But it won't be an authentic screen, so certain features won't work again on the phone, like True Tone or Face ID. And if they aren't successful in putting a working screen on the phone, the phone should be recycled as it would be worthless. If they can, the phone will have no trade value.

Hello~ As pointed out by my colleagues…that is an iPhone 12 Pro Max…you can search with that model number and it pops right up on an online search for me. I also concur that your best opinion now is a third party shop or buy your son another iPhone.
