iOS Camera Fails in Third-Party Apps

Hello,

I'm experiencing a recurring issue on my iPhone where the camera functions correctly in the default Camera app, but fails to initialize in third-party apps (such as Snapchat, Instagram, or Technogym). A restart temporarily resolves the issue, but it returns after a few hours or days.

To investigate, I reviewed multiple JetsamEvent logs and discovered a clear pattern:

  • TikTok is often the largest process during memory pressure incidents.

  • The system frequently triggers vm-compressor-thrashing, resulting in forced termination of background services — including cameracaptured, intelligenceplatformd, and appleidsetupd.

  • In one instance, cameracaptured was terminated with a reason (unknown-17), which strongly suggests the system is killing off camera services under memory stress.

I've temporarily removed TikTok, and I will monitor whether the issue returns.

I’m sharing this to highlight what appears to be a memory management problem affecting camera-dependent apps, likely exacerbated by heavy background apps like TikTok. I'd appreciate any guidance.

I’ve got around 130GB of free space. I had TikTok uninstalled for a couple of days, and during that time I had no issues with the camera. I reinstalled it yesterday, and now — once again — the camera isn’t working properly. It really seems like TikTok is eating up my phone’s resources
