Persistent Nighttime Activity of spotlightknowledged Process with High CPU Usage on iPhone 16 Pro
Since April 22, 2025, my iPhone 16 Pro (iOS 18.4.1) has been generating nightly diagnostic reports between 12:00 AM and 2:00 AM indicating high CPU usage by the spotlightknowledged process. I have manually reviewed the .ips files, and each report shows over 90 seconds of CPU time used within ~91 seconds of runtime, which means over 98% CPU load. This occurs every night.
On May 1, I manually disabled Apple Intelligence and Siri access to apps and performed a force restart of the device. Starting from the night of May 2–3, the execution structure of the process (Backtrace / Steps) began to change, suggesting increasing or unstable behavior. On the night of May 3, the stack trace became noticeably longer, with the number of steps increasing from 6 to 8.
I have not made any changes to Spotlight settings. The phone is charging overnight with Wi-Fi turned off.
