How do I fix 'error-50' while moving a videos folder from iPad to external drive?
Yesterday, when trying to move a folder with video files inside of it out of my iPad into my external drive, I got an ‘error -50’ message. When I tried to move an empty file from my external drive into my iPad I got a ‘Couldn’t communicate with a helper application’ message.
I’ve tried using my external drive’s software to run first aid (no errors), moving a file from my mother’s laptop to the drive (worked, no errors and able to open the file), tried moving individual video files out of a folder into the drive (worked, no errors and able to open the file - I’d just keep doing this if I wasn’t so nit-picky about organising my TBs of files), tried creating and deleting files from the external drive (got an error or a ‘Can not move to ‘501’’ message). I’ve restarted my device twice and tried cleaning the USB port by blowing on it and checking for anything that could visibly show me what’s wrong.
I have to assume my iPad has somehow broken. What next steps should I take? Is there any more troubleshooting methods I could try at home? Thank you.
