Is it safe to use Cleaner One Pro on Mac?

Hello,

This is not critical but I have seen advice posted against using 3rd party tools on Mac OS. I have Cleaner One Pro installed and I use it mostly to find out where I can delete junk files (old logs and cache) as well as to get an overview of my current memory usage and disk usage. I don't use it for other things and I have never had an issue.

I was wondering if anyone could let me know if it is something I should remove or is it OK to keep.

Thanks for any advice.

delete junk files (old logs and cache...? Why. you do not need a third party app.

if you are hurting for storage space— txt logs and caches amount to hardly nothing—this is not the way.

Cache files are used to make your macOS more efficient...

if you have a bigger issue than state exactly what is that issue.

I would not use it—

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

Any Third Party Applications that will interfere with the normal operation of the OS,  is an invitation for disaster.

Certain Applications maybe available on the Apple Apps Store - this only means the Developer is prepared to pay Apple a percentage on each sale.

What the Application may do to the computer is up to the User to check this out before purchase

Any of the below should be removed as per Developers Instructions

Disk Cleaner

CleanMyMac , aka “ BrickMyMac

New macOS Malware "Cthulhu Stealer" Targets Apple Users' Data

Un-Like Microsoft Windows, which does have “ Disk Cleanup “ and “ Defrag “ as part of their Operating System

Apple does not

The list below is every changing as new Junk Application that claim to the " Silver Bullet " come to Market

MacKeeper,

Dr Cleaner Pro Plus

Open Cleaner one Pro

Macmechanic

Clean my Mac x.

MacBooster

Macscan

MacCleanse

CCleaner

macOS has gotten better about protecting itself from corruptions by add-on apps, but add-on apps can still cause issues.

For this case, caches are a means intended to use available system resources to speed frequent operations.

Deleting caches does have effects. It slows the operations that would have used the cache, and it means that the caches will get rebuilt when next needed.

Much like memory cleaners and storage cleaners and such advertised apps, "freeing" cache means otherwise-unused memory is idle, and thus being wasted.

macOS itself self-manages including temporary and log files, and if sometime something does get confused or corrupted, a factory reset and restoration (migration) of the backups is easy and effective. (Apple keeps that all polished and working, as it's the same path for buying a new Mac.)

What add-on apps to use? Whatever. It's your Mac.

Just keep your backups current.
