iPadOS 17.7.7 update has really caused issues to my iPad Pro

This update has really caused issues to my iPad Pro 10.5 inch. Some apps have lost all state every time they are reopened, and revert back to their initial initialisation screens. Programs like procreate show their example artworks. Some games have lost all progress, and apps like YouTube ask me to log in each time.

I have tried a full reset / restore, to no avail, but that added a new issue which now once a day I am asked to log in with my password rather than Touch ID as "I have recently changed my password". I downgraded to 17.7.6 to find the restore for the iPad does not work, so had to reinstall 17.7.7 before restoring.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you StephC74

I tried your suggestion about 4-5 hours ago, and so far it is looking positive, not had anything reset itself or boot me out yet.

I can't pretend I understand why or how it works, but it does appear to have worked for me, the morning will confirm or otherwise

"Restart iPad using the top button and either of the volume buttons. Slide to power off and then wait 30 seconds before powering on.

Toggle your iCloud settings. Settings, tap your name, icloud

Temporarily disable iCloud drive and iCloud keychain

Restart your device and then re-enable iCloud Drive and iCloud Keychain.

As previously mentioned, I have already reported the bug via the feedback link you provided.

What I was asking was how to contact the support team about this, given that the “Support” app does not seem to include any category for doing this. Please can you be more specific about this suggestion:

“In addition [i.e., not as a substitute] to submitting a Bug Report, you might also consider seeking assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page; you can also initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App”

… I do not understand it, sorry.

We all can, but here's the reality. Apple's Feedback loop is a joke. I have stuff in Radar that goes back over a decade. The only way Apple fixes stuff is when a major YouTuber or the mainstream media make headlines about it. Gone are the days of Walt Mossberg calling them to task, unfortunately.

We are on old hardware and stuck with whatever bare minimal support Apple feels they have to do in order to keep people from jumping platforms. Everyone at Apple (that has any authority) have plenty of money to have the latest and greatest of their product lines, and thus, we are nothing more than bottom feeders to them.

As others have experienced, the online support person eventually offered to reset and restore my iPad as a bypass for this. I declined.

However, I do have a reasonably current backup on iTunes (Windows), taken while still on 17.7.6. I am nervous about connecting the iPad though, as I *think* I have it set to automatically backup on every synchronisation. Thus, is there a danger that iTunes will create a 17.7.7 backup before I have the opportunity to restore the iPad using the 17.7.6 one?

Questions: a) Am I right to be concerned? b) is there a way of restoring from the 17.7.6-level backup while avoiding this? Guidance welcome…. ta
