iPhone 15 Pro Max – Rapid Battery Health Decline and Overheating Issue

Hi,

I’ve been using an iPhone 15 Pro Max and noticed the battery health has dropped from 90% to 88% within just a month (dropping 1% every two weeks). The phone also heats up even during basic tasks like calls, YouTube, or regular browsing.

It’s disappointing to face such issues on a premium device that’s less than a year old. If this continues, does it mean we need to replace our phones every year? What’s the point of investing so much in a high-end phone?

Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice or solution from Apple?

Please follow this path,

iPhone > Settings > Battery > scroll down a little > screenshot showing last 24 hours and what apps are using your daily battery capacity. Also the last 10 days will be helpful too.

It should look something like below.

Update to the latest iOS version 18.5. It was just released yesterday and it’s reported to help some iPhones.

YouTube can drain battery capacity on a daily basis if you watch a lot of high resolution and HDR videos. HDR in particular dramatically increases screen brightness which has a large effect on your battery on a day to day basis.

Thanks for the info. However, I don’t use YouTube extensively on my iPhone — in fact, my usage on this device is quite minimal. I rely more on my secondary phone for most day-to-day tasks. Still, despite this light usage, I’ve noticed a consistent drop in battery health.

Right after updating to iOS 18.5, the battery health dropped by another 1%, and it’s now at 88%. It’s quite disappointing to see this kind of decline on a premium device that’s not even heavily used.

Also, if we are expected to limit usage to maintain battery health, it really makes me wonder — what’s the point of investing in such an expensive smartphone if we can’t even use it freely?
