How to resolve video stuttering issues in Apple TV app on Mac devices?

When I stream video on the Apple TV app for Mac, I get constant stuttering during the first play of every video. It happens within the first 30 minutes at most, and I always have to restart the video to stop the stuttering, which happens every 2-3 seconds, making the video unwatchable. This is not a hardware issue, I've had this on 4 different Macs now. Each Mac is using the same iCloud account, the same external monitor and the same office location/network. Is this a known issue? Could it be caused by a connected device like the monitor or a bluetooth device, or the network? It doesn't happen with any other streaming services or applications (Netflix, Amazon Prime etc.) on the same Macs and same network; it also doesn't happen with Apple TV on iPad or other devices; only with Apple TV application on Macs. It happens with any streaming content (movies, TV, subscription channels) and all formats (4k, HD, SD). So far I've had this issue with a MacBook Pro M4 Max, Mac Studio M1 Max, MacBook Pro M1 Pro and Mac Mini M1.
