Why does my iPhone 16 Pro Max sound terrible with aftermarket headphone adapters?

I've tried the apple connector to regular 3.5mm jack and aftermarket ones directly to lightning cable, the sound is so low and sounds terrible. It's an Iphone 16 pro max and I've never had this much trouble from apple got ipads, watches and macs and I'm getting so burnt out with these devices not being plug and play anymore. There's several post about this issue and I have tried all the settings and forgetting device nothing works. I am so close to leaving apple for good

Your post doesn't make sense. The iPhone 15 and 16 do not have lightning ports, so referencing a lightning cable makes no sense.

What are you trying to connect your phone to?

If you want to link it to a stereo system that only has a 3.5mm jack and does not have bluetooth, it will be much simpler to just get a bluetooth receiver that plugs into the aux jack.

Phones haven't had aux ports on them in years... that includes almost all android devices, not just iPhones.

Then maybe you should find a 10 year old iPad, because an iPhone 16 is NOT an iPod and wasn't designed with that in mind.

You can get the Apple USB-C to 3.5mm adapter here: Buy USB-C to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter - Apple

If that doesn't do what you need, I'm sorry, but you're probably out of luck. Trying to integrate new technology with a standard established in the 1950's isn't going to be a smooth process.

So let me see if I understand you correctly. You bought a 3rd party adapter and it's not delivering the sonic splendors you expect and you're here complaining about it on a user to user only forum and it's not even an Apple product to begin with? Do I have it correct?

Complain to whoever you bought the adapter from or buy an official adapter from Apple or maybe join the 21st century and get Bluetooth earbuds, which work unbelievably well and you'll never have to be tethered to a cable. You couldn't give me wired headphones for free.
