MacBook Pro TouchBar touching buttons by itself

Hi, this was a problem that i used to have like 6 months ago, it disappeared for some reason and it came again. The issue is that the touchbar touches their buttons by itself, for example, in google the refresh page button, or it drags the volume to maximum and then minimum.

This at an incredibly fast speed, and i can not use it normally because the buttons just mess up my computer (it refreshes pages, inputs emojis or random words when i type, etc).

I tried several solutions to this problem. Some of them were starting the MacBook on safe mode, and inputing some commands on the terminal (sudo pkill TouchBarServer and sudo killall ControlStrip), but they were only temporal solutions.

Had someone had the same issue? Or does someone know how to fix this?

Does the same thing happen when you boot & run the Apple Diagnostics?

And when you access Recovery Mode (Command + R) or better yet Internet Recovery Mode (Command + Option + R)?

If so, you most likely have a hardware issue with the laptop that will need repaired.

However, I personally don't recommend anyone spending money on repairing any 2016-2020 Intel Macs for multiple reasons. The money spent on repairs is much better put towards a new laptop.

Be careful of any Terminal commands. There is one command I've seen people try which may work for the T1 Macs from 2016 & 2017, but if used on a 2018-2020 Intel Mac with T2 chip......well you would instantly lose all of the data stored on the internal SSD unless you had good backups.

I suspect you have a hardware issue. My suggestions are to help prove it.

What is the exact model of your laptop? You can get this information by entering the system serial number on the Apple check coverage page (please don't post the serial number on the forum since it is considered personal information):

Ghost in the machine...

you neglect to say what exact Mac this is...

If an Intel Mac— do both and compare your results

resetting the System Management Controller Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

resetting NVRAM/PRAM Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

(get at least two-three rounds of the chimes when holding the NVRAM Reset)

if no resolve—

A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.
