Whenever I swipe to type in email or messages I get duplicate words. How do I stop this?

This is happening for me as well but it seems isolated to my Gmail app. I’m using an iPhone 15. This was never an issue before upgrading my phone.
Probably you are referring to Swify Key, in the Apple devices it is called QuickPath key. using this will not add duplicate words.

Yes, when I swipe I sometimes get duplicate words. I can tell because I can see them and I have to delete them. It happens for emails and messages.

This is happening to me as well. It is not happening here just in Gmail. Maybe a Gmail issue? Help i am in hospital trying to inform family and friends and this is frustrating.
