After you update your iPhone, it must work harder to complete post-update background tasks and will inevitable drain more battery. The general rule of thumb for this is 36-72 hours. But you should have your iPhone on the charger overnight, this way it can complete these tasks and index your iPhone quicker, and it won’t drain any unnecessary battery, so you wake up with a full charge.

That statement actually isn’t factually correct. Overnight charging is the best practice for your iPhone. When it hits fully charged, while it may still show as being charged, it’s actually not and charging is put on hold. Charging only resumes if it falls below I believe 95%. Then if you have Optimized Battery Charging on, which you should, it will wait to charge past 80% right before you need to use it.
