Can someone fake or hack Face ID to access my iPhone?

Is there a way to hack Face ID? So I guess it’s possible for someone to get passwords and or passcodes with key logging but what about Face ID? I recently had to prove my ID to a different company and they asked for photo ID and to take a picture rotating your face around the circle similar to how you setup Face ID on iPhone. Is there risk with Face ID?

Whoever wanted you to prove your ID with that routine probably shouldn’t look at the latest round of generated video, as that’s getting pretty good, as is what can be generated by platforms including Unreal MetaHuman.

As for your question, Apple Face ID includes a laser scan for depth. That’s not so easy to bypass.

I know technology advances daily and it seemed I was giving this company ‘True Depth’ similar mapping of my face. This company is well known and I would imagine has advanced technology as well. Thank you for your reply.

I didn’t realize I had MDM installed at one point on an iPhone along with two other devices. I just read an article keylogging can happen with MDM. And on top of that a very weak passcode and password, and didn’t realize the accessibility of the iCloud. I had all kinds of problems prior and felt like I was fighting my iPhone & desktop. So now I’m trying to learn how stuff works and be more secure going forward.

Thank you for your reply. Curious if other companies have access to obtain unique cryptographic hash of your face, if the non obtained Apple recording could ‘unlock’ your iphone.

Yes, I’m not sure what kind of risk and how it’s done, but Face ID is quite easy to hack and bypass if your phone gets stolen. I’ve had friends who had their car broken into while surfing, the criminals took only the phones. Same day they bought 50k from Apple Store with the Apple wallet saved on the phone. Proceeded to open new lines of credit and loans and reset the password of Apple ID. Now Apple is denying my friend access to the Apple ID because the criminals are deemed to have more putative documents 🤣 like what?

lesson learned: do NOT use Face ID in any of your banking apps, and do NOT use Apple wallet
