Is this Apple virus alert email real or a scam?

I keep getting this email from what appears to be from apple, I keep deleting but keeps coming back. Is this a scam or is this real?

Good job identifying that (rather obvious) attempted scam. 👍🏼


Some key points in a scam:

  1. That message never mentioned you by name.
  2. Apple would never send such a message to customers.
  3. It is not possible for an anonymous email to scan your Mac and declare you have "(5) Viruses".
  4. Never click an unsolicited link. This directs you to a scammer who is (most likely) working in an organized scam call center in another country.


That’s all the evidence you need to block, report and delete the message.


Again, good job in identifying that scam and spreading the message.


In closing:

If you receive a suspicious email or SMS text message that looks like it's supposed to be from Apple, please email it to reportphishing@apple.com. 
