It depends on your needs and budget.

Apple still sells the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus as part of their new lineup. These phones have only 6 GB of RAM – so they do not support Apple Intelligence. They've already gotten one major iOS update (from 17 to 18); therefore, assuming that 15- and 16-series phones get the same number of updates (a big if), the 16-series phones will be eligible for future iOS updates a year longer than the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will be.

In some countries and regions, the online Apple Store has a Certified Refurbished section.

Refurbished iPhone Deals - Apple

According to Apple's site, Certified Refurbished iPhones come with a new battery, a new outer shell, and a 1-year warranty. If you found a 15-series phone with the features that you wanted in the Certified Refurbished store, you would typically pay 85% of the list price of a new phone, for a phone in "like new" condition.

Finally, if you are tempted to buy a used iPhone from anyone other than Apple, I'd suggest reading

It's still a great iPhone and is only more than 1 year old. It will receive iOS software updates and service for a minimum of 5 years, so until a minimum of 2028, and Apple is known to extend that. Keep in mind Apple no longer sells this model and the only place you can get it is from Apple's Certified Refurbished Shop or an Apple Authorized Reseller. Whether it suits your needs is decision only you can make, or compared to the iPhone 16 lineup Apple currently sells.

Apple's new lineup still includes the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. Just not the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.
