How do I access the "On My iPhone" folder within the Files app on iPhone?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been experiencing a recurring issue when trying to access the "On My iPhone" location within the Files app.

Sometimes, when I try to open this folder or save a file to it, the app freezes or becomes unresponsive. This can happen also when I try to move or download files from my app OneDrive.

The issue is sometimes temporarily avoided if I manually open the "On My iPhone" folder before performing any file operations, which seems to "wake up" the storage path.

Does anyone is facing this problem?

Here are a few things that I might be able to help with your problem:

  • Check available storage – Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage and ensure your device isn’t running low on space, which can slow down file management.
  • Check for OneDrive app updates – Open the App Store, go to updates, and install the latest version of OneDrive.
  • Disable background app refresh – Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and turn it off for OneDrive to see if it helps prevent the freezing.
