Will a screen protector prevent cracking if I drop my iPhone?

Anyone faced before the situation when you dropped your Iphone and the screen crack even though there is screen protector? If yes, how high did you dropped it? I am always worried that I will drop my phone. Previously, when I am using Iphone SE, sometimes, I did accidentally drop it. Recently I just bought Iphone 16 Pro Max, it is really heavy and I am worried that I could not hold it properly.

Putting a good quality screen protector on your iPhone makes a LOT of sense, whether you may drop it or not. It will prevent scratches developing and yes, it can help if you drop your phone. Screen protectors are more likely to crack as the energy of a fall is transferred to the screen protector as opposed to the screen itself cracking. It's not impossible to crack a screen with a screen protector, but it does help.
