I installed the VCR OSD MONO font from DaFonts’s website and use the iFont app to install it but it’s not showing up in My Fonts. How do I get my font then?

You can only use fonts you add like this in apps that have font menu, like Pages. That is where you have to look in order to select them for use. The "My Fonts" part of settings does not always show them.
