How do I fix Mail freezing after iOS 18.5 update on iPhone 13 Pro Max?

5 hours and no problems after deleting the VPN setting

Worked for me!! Just deleted all the VPNs in device management, which I don’t even use ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I removed the VPN Express App from my iPhone and shut it down. After a few minutes restarted it. Since then no freeze. I hope it stays so.

I'm not sure if this suggestion has been offered:

TURN ON: Limit IPTracking in iPhone WIFI Settings.

Settings / WIFI / (your network) / (i) The info icon in a circle - Select that and TURN ON Limit IP Address Tracking

After testing ok I did power iPhone off for a few mins then powered up. Device stable since around 00:30 last night.

This has worked for me.

Someone posted this and so far it’s working : go to settings>email>fetch and change your the settings to AUTOMATIC. (Mine was on 15 minutes.). Then turn off your phone and wait about 30 seconds then turn it back on. So far it’s worked. I’ll let it know if it freezes again.

Over 24 hours. Opened mail app 12-14 times no issues; since setting all mail accounts to fetch and automatic.

Too early to tell but maybe worth checking.

My wife's iphone on latest IOS had the exact issue reported here - freezing screen, etc. A phone reboot would clear it up.

On my same model and ios version iphone I did NOT have the issue so I compared app settings.

I changed two settings on her Mail App - turned off Organize by Thread and turned on collapse read messages.

As I said, we had just rebooted her iphone so not sure if this will make a difference yet but maybe worth trying...

Since I turned on iCloud Private Relay I have not had an issue. I hope I didn't just jinx the fix.

I've been having this issue for over a month with browsing and mail.

i manually refresh my inboxes and they have not been able to update or send outgoing mail.

the solution seems to be turning on private relay on your Apple account (search in your settings).

Uninstall the mail app and reinstall it. You will be good to go.

Download Outlook App. Works fine.

A possible solution?

This morning I changed the Mail Accounts Fetch setting to automatic. It has been set to “Every 15 minutes”. Since then I haven’t had any issues. YMMV

I tried this on a whim, and it seems to work so far. I switched all of my accounts to manual versus fetch. Before that I had one set to fetch and the other others were manual.

The solution is simple - delete Mail and install Outlook.

Outlook works and Mail does not.

Mail is uber basic anyway, so its a win-win.
