How do I fix Mail freezing after iOS 18.5 update on iPhone 13 Pro Max?

I did this about 30 hours ago. Also did a network reset. No issues since then. Fingers crossed.

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings

I’ve had enough ! I’ve downloaded Outlook App. Works fine !

Swapped from 15 minute fetch for mail to Auto. Will update after 1-3 days if it clears the issue.

Exact same issue on a iPhone 14 Pro Max restart is the only thing that solves it and then it’s back to doing it later the same day killing the app does not work

I’m having the same issue on a 12 Pro Max after updating to 18.5

mail app doesn’t load at all, but if I minimize the window, sometime will show the last email I read, but with no ability to scroll advance the screen, go to inbox, or click on any links.

Same issue here, started the same time. The only thing that works to get mail working again (that I've found so far) is to shut down and turn my phone back on. But this happens at least two or three times a day so very annoying to have to keep shutting down. I'm on iPhone 12.

It would appear I also have some users experiencing the same... however I'm curious... what mail platforms are you experiencing this with... Gmail, iCloud.com, Hotmail, Exchange? My users are using Exchange & hotmail. They too are running 18.5 but its across multiple lines of iPhones however they appear to be the Pro models that are affected.

I spoke to an Apple Support tech via the support app on my iPad and through iMessage and brought the issue to their attention (by linking this forum post). I told them that by the looks of this forum it clearly is an iOS 18.5 issue that EVERYONE is experiencing. Hopefully this tech is able to forward it up the chain and it is taken seriously.

I’m also experiencing the mail app freeze on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Mine specifically freezes when I tap on my Gmail folder, none of the others. I have 3 accounts linked - my iCloud which is a bundle consisting of of my .iCloud account and a few personal domains, Gmail, and an old Yahoo account. I’ll be checking mail or refreshing my mail to see if any new emails have come in and as soon as I tap on the Gmail folder to view the emails in it, it highlights the Gmail bar as I tap it, but nothing happens. Then the whole app is frozen and I have to reboot the phone.

iphone 13 Pro. Exactly the same thing. VPN was off and I turned it on and tried again. Worked until I left Mail then froze again when I went back to it. Toggling VPN made no difference since. Sort it out Apple!

Mail freezing from this morning … 5 June.

I have found it just as easy to go to googlemail but my email data is there. That often frees up the apple mail application.
