How do I fix Mail freezing after iOS 18.5 update on iPhone 13 Pro Max?

Doubtful. Why would Apple want to kill off its own mail app to hand off to Google and other competitors? It doesn’t make sense. It is more than likely a bug in the 18.5 update.

this started happening on my iPhone SE just after I download iOS18.5. It seems the only "cure" is to reboot

I'm having the same issue and finding no answers at all. This just started today, 4 June 2025. Everything was working fine until this morning. I've had to restart my phone three times just to look at email. Highly frustrating.

Would love someone at Apple to take note of this issue and fix it.

Same here. Only started happening on my iPhone 13 Pro Max after the 18.5 update. The app will freeze, become totally unresponsive. When I force quit and open it again, it’s totally blank.

I have to restart the phone to get it working again, but eventually it locks up again.

Please, someone from Apple … reach out and let’s get this fixed!

I have an iPhone SE 2020 and I just started having this issue yesterday. I assume it's related to the recent iOS update to 18.5. No active VPN settings on my phone, so I don't believe it's related to that.

I have one idea. I started using Reminded Me shortly before this began on my SE 3rd gen. I removed all the reminders and so far it’s woking normally minus reminders. Not sure this means anything NEVER MIND - after a bit it stopped working properly again. The only difference is rather than just a white screen. I see a frozen list of my emails.

I am having the mail app freezing issue since yesterday June 4, 2025. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max with 256GB. The only thing which works is restarting the iPhone. My wife is also having the same problem on an identical phone today.

How do we make Apple aware of this issue?

14 Pro here, and same thing... After Update to 18.5 Mail app is practically unusable. Worked without issue since I got the phone when it first came out, so its gota be something in the 18.5 update because nothing else has changed on the phone... not even installed a new app or anything...

Yes, mine started yesterday June 4th as well. Husband is having the same issue. He has an iPhone 11 and I have a 13. Seems crazy that no communication is available on this yet given the security concern.

Same here. Iphone 11. Mail freezes and I have to keep restarting, but nothing fixes it. Started happening on June 4. Phone is also overheating quickly and battery goes down 50% faster than before the update.

O thank goodness, it's not just me. I'm so frustrated, you're right, it's after the IOS 18.5 upgrade. I can open my Email App but either I see a white screen - or - I'll see my Inbox with no messages in it, and the screen is frozen so I can't go anywhere. I have to keep restarting my iPhone14 to be able to see my email and have the phone recognize what I am selecting. Please fix this Apple, this is painful.

Apple, how in the **** do you screw up something as fundamental as the mail app??? My wife and I have different model iPhones and the mail app is frozen on both! Combine the malfunctioning of basic applications with the fact that Apple hasn’t innovated in over a decade, and one wonders what’s wrong with leadership at the company. Epic fail.

I’m having the same issues since the update as well and I have a iPhone 13 Pro. The Mail app freezes. I shut it down by flicking it up and reopen it and I get a white screen. I’ve had to shut down my phone and turn it back on multiple times a day and it’s getting very annoying.

Please, Apple, I hope you have a fix or an update for this issue.

I’ve also had this issue several times on my iPhone 15 since updating to iOS 18.5. Mail app shows me a blank screen, or freezes and won’t respond at all. Force close doesn’t help, I have to restart my phone. It’s a big PITA, because I use the phone for my work correspondence and it is a waste of time having to restart my phone repeatedly. Apple needs to release a fix for this ASAP.
