I want to charge my Iphone in my car with the charging pad that is already installed in my car. It used to charge it al long as I unlocked my Iphone before charging. Now it isn’t charing at all. The only thing that happens is it get’s really hot. Can someone help me?

Try charging without the case and let us know how that goes. A case can affect alignment, especially if it's thick.
First off does your iPhone support wireless Qi Charging? A lot of times the coils to wirelessly charge in your car do not perfectly align with your iPhone's which can cause issues. The camera bump on your iPhone can also cause issues with alignment. If you have any cases or accessories on your iPhone be sure to remove them. Does it show the charging symbol when you have it on the charging pad? If yes, it's likely charging but very slowly. If it doesn't show at all, it likely is not charging and you may want to contact the manufacturer of the car.
Which version of the iPhone is he using? Some of the larger phones, like my iPhone 16 Pro Max have a problem in certain vehicles. As Zachyy stated there are a number of reasons why it won't. I had trouble in an earlier vehicle because as Zachyy stated, the coil doesn't line up properly. When they first started putting wireless charging mats in cars, they wouldn't work with any iPhones that supported MagSafe charging. You may have to take a look at finding the best place for the phone to be set on the pad. Is this pad out in the open, or is it covered into the dash?
Can you post a photo of the pad? Have you tried it in different orientations, in other words, turning it in a different direction?
Yes, my iPhone as well as my dad's iPhone do support wireless Qi Charging. I don't drive the car as much as he does, but today when he drove home from work, he put phone to charging pad and the phone was at 20%. When he got home about 20-30 minutes after, his iPhone was at 18% and it was very hot. We haven't tried charging it without the phone case, but it was charging normal about a week ago with case. And no, there isn't the charging symbol.
