Paid for ChatGPT subscription via iOS – money charged, but no access or active plan

Hey everyone,


  • I recently purchased a ChatGPT subscription through the App Store (iOS), the payment was successfully processed and I was charged – but I never got access to the subscription. The app still tells me I’m not subscribed and offers me to purchase it again.


  • Apple ID used: vy******4@icloud.com
  • Purchase made from the official ChatGPT app by OpenAI
  • Payment is visible in my purchase history
  • But no GPT-4 access, no history, no pro features – nothing


What I’ve already tried:

  • Restoring purchases in the app – nothing
  • Signing out and back in – still nothing
  • Reached out to Apple support – refund was denied twice
  • Contacted OpenAI – they said the subscription is handled by Apple and I need to solve it with them

So I’m stuck in this ridiculous loop. Apple blames OpenAI, OpenAI blames Apple.


Meanwhile I paid for something I never received.

Has anyone dealt with something similar?


Any tips on who to talk to or how to escalate this properly?

Thanks for any help – this is beyond frustrating.
