Amazon app cause iPhone to overheat

Within last week or so I’ve noticed that once I open Amazon app my phone becomes running hot within  minutes. I’m was on iOS 18.5, using iPhone 15 Pro haven’t updated Amazon app in a long while but even after updating to latest version phone is still running 100% CPU throttle as soon as I open Amazon app.

Even worse is that really hard to get any support from Amazon in regards to app issues whatsoever. There is no such support topic in support system to report problems with app. And even though AppStore you can’t report quality issues because on reportproblem.apple.com website it’s stated “reporting not available”.

I even called amazon to let them know about this problem, after agent took my info and statement she put me on hold and in 5 minutes they dropped my call. Posting here in attempt to get some attention to the issue.

Absolute nightmare to get any support in regard to problems with Amazon Shopping app.

I got some updates.

I’ve deleted and reinstalled app version 25.12.0

after re-installing I’ve noticed that Rufus Ai button is gone, and I wasn’t be able to find it anywhere.

my phone does not run 100% cpu in amazon app as soon as I opened it.

phone is still getting noticeably warm from extensive use of app. But now at least I can hold my phone comfortably.

i think iPhone 15 pro have more cpu efficiency and thermal capacity to handle amazon app, I think it’s possible that’s other iPhones still may get very hot just of poor app optimization.

for now overheating issue is gone for me. Thank you all for your feedback and input to amazon and apples support teams.

Also: I just contacted Amazon customer support. I opened a virtual chat and went through the motions until it offered to put me in touch with a person, who then immediately referred the issue to specialists. I also shared this thread to indicate that other people are having the same issue.

They don’t make it obvious how to report bugs on their website - maybe they make it easier in the app, but I’m certainly not using it right now!

Not sure you’re getting the point here. All of us are experiencing overheating and draining battery power on the Amazon app and it started within the last week. It is serious and needs to be addressed. This is not like regular heating when you’re on graphic intensive sites. This is fast and furious and needs to be fixed.

Perhaps you're not getting the point. Apple has nothing to do with the Amazon app. Apple doesn't own Amazon. They don't own their app. They can't fix the Amazon app. No one is suggesting people aren't experiencing heating issues with the Amazon app. But posting here on this user to user only forum, where no one from Apple OR Amazon participates is nothing more than being a "me too" poster. It won't get the attention of the ONLY entity who can fix the app and that is Amazon.

I posted a page or so ago a link to contact Amazon if you want this fixed. Contact Amazon as opposed to being a "me too" poster on a user to user only forum, where no one who posts here can fix this.

I have removed and reinstalled and that made no difference. I thought maybe disabling Rufus might help but thats not possible according Amazon Help. (And just for notes, this has been going for maybe a month or two??)

4 weeks, since Amazon released an update on May 17. Entirely an Amazon problem, which their non-techie online support says isn’t real. So contact tech dudes who may fix it: ios-feedback@amazon.com. Everyone reading this thread should send feedback to get Amazon’s attention.

Thank you so much for posting this! I hadn’t been on Amazon at all lately and went to it from a link. Noticed my iPhone 16 pro was heating up. Deleted a game app I hadn’t used in awhile. No change. Did a search and your post popped up. Sure enough, after deleting the app the phone cooled down rapidly. Checked hubby’s phone, same. Just as well. Been avoiding using Amazon anyway. Bye bye Bezos!

(There is also a Reddit thread about it)

I noticed I was having this issue as well. I’ve just gone into the Amazon app and adjusted my settings (person silhouette > gear > permissions). I found there were several enabled which I had not turned on regarding Bluetooth, microphone, camera, location… things I don’t ever use. Hopefully turning these off will stop the app from making my phone feel like it’s about to melt down.

Bumping this post with the email address for Amazon support (it is getting lost in the shuffle)

summary as I’ve seen it:

25.12 the latest update available as of 4 days ago does not solve the problem for everyone.

uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t work for everyone.

clearing memory doesn’t work for everyone.

turning off background sync doesn’t work for everyone

and turning off app access to location and Bluetooth doesn’t work for everyone

folks who have done all of above still getting overheating.

(hi. It’s me. None of above worked for me lol, but I’ve seen other folks express the same)

There is nothing that Apple support can do, except contact Amazon. But you can do that also, and if everyone with the problem reports it should get their attention: ios-feedback@amazon.com

It works; I got a canned reply, but at least it confirmed that they got it.
